unit 2: Let’s talk about creativity

After all there are some concepts that are needed to clarify, then there are two types of thinking: divergent thinking and convergent thinking.

Divergent thinking refers to the way the mind generates ideas beyond proscribed expectations and rote thinking—what is usually referred to thinking outside the box, and is often associated with creativity. Convergent thinking, on the other hand, requires one to restrict ideas to those that might be correct or the best solution to a problem, is useful when conventional ideas or a particular and correct solution are required.

Human mind likes patterns. It always looks for rhythm of thoughts in our mind and tries to capture the pattern of thoughts or ideas and provide more and more thoughts in the related pattern. Thinking out of the box is breaking the present pattern of thoughts and feeding the mind a different pattern of ideas/thoughts.

The primary difference between creativity and innovation is that the former refers to conceiving a new idea while the latter involves converting that idea into a marketable commodity. Creativity is the act of conceiving something new, whether a variation on an existing theme or something wholly original. Innovation is the act of putting that concept into practice. It’s the difference between suggesting the idea that an aircraft could fly through space and actually building a rocket that astronauts can use to get to the moon.

At the final it can be concluded that despite we have two different types of thinking things (convergent and divergent) and solutions they are not separated at all, you can use both to find a way of resolve an issue. Also, there are two tools more that are really useful: creativity and innovation. With creativity you will find the way of solving with a background, however, not always is necessary to find a solution from 0, so then you can innovate and also this will help you to put your ideas in practice.
