Unit 2: Design thinking & lean startup

Imagen
Design Thinking is having a thought to analyze a problem, as a designer would do, obviously with the purpose of finding a solution. Design Thinking is a way to offer a solution to a problem. We break down a problem, divide it into smaller parts, analyze them, think hard, without limits, as much as we can and as much as we can think of, empathetically and together with other team members, then we will be much closer to finding the solution we are looking for. At the beginning this methodology was very much related to product development but it has slowly evolved and has become an incredible tool to generate innovation with which ideas can emerge in any sector and situation, for this reason Design thinking is more about creating value. A fundamental characteristic of the Design Thinking methodology is that it is focused on the user, the problems he/she has and on empathy. These concepts are closely related, it is important to previously make an image of the place, an analysis of...

Unit 2: Innovation

Imagen
Sometimes being an innovative person comes to peoples mind a blessed person who has revolutionary ideas. However, Innovation is really about responding to change in a creative way. It's about generating new ideas, conducting, improving processes or revamping products and services. Continuous and/or evolutionary innovation, defined as the most common type of innovation. Since it is based on the iterative improvement of what you already have, it tends to apply the same innovation model throughout the entire process. Groundbreaking innovation is that, as in the case of our friendly clams, is based on solving a defined problem with a complex solution, by using knowledge that is apparently unrelated to the field in question, and that would initially seem to have little correlation with it. Disruptive innovation, which is innovation that understands and anticipates a change of cycle in the market and completely varies its business model to adapt to new times (for example, Netflix we...

Unit 2: creativity

Imagen
The importance of creative thinking today needs no emphasis. In your profession or sphere of work you will have a competitive advantage if you develop your ability to come up with new ideas. In your personal life, too, creative thinking can lead you into new paths of creative activity. It can enrich your life – though not always in the way you expect. “Creativity is the faculty of mind and spirit that enables us to bring into existence, ostensibly out of nothing, something of use, order, beauty or significance.” Unfortunately, exits a myth about the genius that person who already is creative by magic. “The genius myth suggests anyone lucky enough to win the genetic lottery could, by way of their own precocity, revolutionize an entire field.” Of course, this version of genius ignores a key reality: that a number of external factors influence the trajectory of genius figures, particularly privilege, and the opportunities and resources that go with it. In other cases, the factors ...

unit 2: Let’s talk about creativity

Imagen
After all there are some concepts that are needed to clarify, then there are two types of thinking: divergent thinking and convergent thinking. Divergent thinking refers to the way the mind generates ideas beyond proscribed expectations and rote thinking—what is usually referred to thinking outside the box, and is often associated with creativity. Convergent thinking, on the other hand, requires one to restrict ideas to those that might be correct or the best solution to a problem, is useful when conventional ideas or a particular and correct solution are required.  Human mind likes patterns. It always looks for rhythm of thoughts in our mind and tries to capture the pattern of thoughts or ideas and provide more and more thoughts in the related pattern. Thinking out of the box is breaking the present pattern of thoughts and feeding the mind a different pattern of ideas/thoughts. The primary difference between creativity and innovation is that the former refers to conceiv...

what is thinking?

Thinking is the ultimate cognitive activity, consciously using our brains to make sense of the world around us and decide how to respond to it. Unconsciously our brains are still 'thinking' and this is a part of the cognitive process, but is not what we normally call 'thinking'.  Neurally , thinking is simply about chains of synaptic connections. Thinking as experienced is of 'thoughts' and 'reasoning' as we seek to connect what we sense with our inner world of understanding, and hence do and say things that will change the outer world. Our ability to think develops naturally in early life. When we interact with others, it becomes directed, for example when we learn values from our parents and knowledge from our teachers. We learn that it is good to think in certain ways and bad to think in other ways. Indeed, to be accepted into a social group, we are expected to think and act in ways that are harmonious with the group culture.

Topic 5: Models for evaluation solution alternatives & Trouble shooting

Imagen
To start with this topic is relevant the theory of change explains “how activities are understood to produce a series of results that contribute to achieving the final intended impacts. It can be developed for any level of intervention – an event, a project, a program, a policy, a strategy or an organization.” (UNICEF, Patricia Rogers) for this we can see the theory of chance as that way is not only searching for the solutions, it is to find them in the vest way for developing a whole strategy to implement an attempt for having a significant impact with it. The theory of change is then, a model to evaluate the efficiency of the solutions this allows us to recognize what are the long and the short necessities, find ways to apply it and correct the bad ones, that’s why it can be used for strategic planning or program for forethought to identify the current situation (in terms of needs and opportunities), the suitable situation, and what required to be done to change from one to the oth...

Topic 4: Tools for identifying problems and developing solutions

Imagen
At first, sight seems that this point is already covered in bloom’s taxonomy, nevertheless, those were the methodologies from a whole. then searching deep about the ways of learning, it also is remarkable the importance of the use of the tools at the moment of problem-solving. To cover this part, it will be presented some of the tools most used and helpful for a conscious understanding of the problems and their solutions. Many of us have read or listened to Cause - Effect, this model is explained as “When you have a serious problem, it's important to explore all of the things that could cause it, before you start to think about a solution.” (Cause and effect diagram, University of Western Australia). This is substantial for problem solution owing to it must not do guesses regarding what is happening or will happen if you modify random data, that is not how things get fixed, problems must be analyzed before, looking for the root of all, after identifying the part of the solution w...
