Unit 2: Innovation

Sometimes being an innovative person comes to peoples mind a blessed person who has revolutionary ideas. However, Innovation is really about responding to change in a creative way. It's about generating new ideas, conducting, improving processes or revamping products and services.

Continuous and/or evolutionary innovation, defined as the most common type of innovation. Since it is based on the iterative improvement of what you already have, it tends to apply the same innovation model throughout the entire process. Groundbreaking innovation is that, as in the case of our friendly clams, is based on solving a defined problem with a complex solution, by using knowledge that is apparently unrelated to the field in question, and that would initially seem to have little correlation with it.

Disruptive innovation, which is innovation that understands and anticipates a change of cycle in the market and completely varies its business model to adapt to new times (for example, Netflix went from distributing physical films via the postal service, to marketing content through streaming). This type of innovation is clearly differential, and capable of creating leading companies in their target.

For helping this, Basic and continuous research over time, executed in the background, but normally responsible for big innovations. Most large companies have a team behind them dedicated to researching every day, or have agreements with universities and research centers who help in this task.

Disruptive innovation incumbents focus on improving their products and services for their most demanding (and usually most profitable) customers, they exceed the needs of some segments and ignore the needs of others. Entrants that prove disruptive begin by successfully targeting those overlooked segments, gaining a foothold by delivering more-suitable functionality—frequently at a lower price.

Now, there is a source of innovation called Scamper, it is a method that can help you in getting new ideas through some simple things. An idea is something that sometimes comes in your mind easily whole sometimes things start to get messed up. In both the situations, scamper can help you to innovate and improve your products in the market.

In conclusion, we it can be said that consumers have become progressively adapted to look for and want what is new, best, fastest, more convenient, or more fashionable, and to get tired of products much more quickly than before. Then, if you are planning to reach your market target, you must innovate constantly or at least have an star product that can have actualizations or not, it depends on the future necessities, for this you do not need the most revolutionary innovations to be an innovative and useful solution to a problem. Adding to this, it is helpful to have a constant research, and find what kind do you need (continuous, disruptive, basic, …) to be assertive, and using the tool scamper may do things easier to find solutions.
